One of the mightiest forces in existence is automaticity or habit. It works without our awareness, it acts on the first milliseconds when relevant cues or triggers are present. It overrides conscious decisions. It is for this reason that I think one of the aims of life is to develop desirable habits, so as to attain goals automatically, without conscious efforts. When we lose consciousness, we retain those.
