One way to sleep 8 hours a day or night, depending your schedule is to remain motionless after you wake up. This generally happens when one cycle of sleep ends another one starts. Some interruptions may interfere with smooth move from one cycle to another.
This means no thoughts or feelings for that matter, that is if you remain motionless. Soon, you will get back to sleep if you really want to do so, otherwise you will rest.
Don't be fooled by thoughts and emotions that run like stories or come and go. Fascinating thoughts: remain a tree. Why? you will have 16 hours to do a fascinating work.
